Representing the first Lady of the Republic of Liberia Madam Clara Weah, was Mr. Arthur Douglas, Communication focal person. On behalf of Madam Weah, he expressed appreciation to the Governance Commission for its farsightedness in organizing this important dialogue. Noted, the First Lady was concerned about substance abuse and the effect on the Liberian economy.

Mr. Douglas said, Substance abuse has created serious consequences ranging from mental illness which takes children from school on a daily basis and sometimes lead children to violence. He used the occasion to inform, the public about Madam Weah current project, the construction of a multimillion dollars multipurpose center which will be used to train young Liberian girls with different skills. The center will also include space to rehabilitate drug affected people. He encouraged the participants to bring up ideas that ensure the future of young people are fully protected. Mr. Douglas reassured the first lady’s commitment to working with the Commission.
